Bio
Sam Pereira graduated from California State University, Fresno with a BA in English. Following that, he attended the famous University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he received his MFA in Poetry. He has published in many literary magazines over the years since then, including American Poetry Review, Antioch Review, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Blackbird, Poetry International, and Neo. His work has also been included in a number of anthologies, including The Body Electric (W. W. Norton, 2000).
His books include The Marriage of the Portuguese (L'Epervier Press, 1978), Brittle Water (Abattoir Editions/Penumbra Press, University of Nebraska at Omaha, 1987), and A Cafe in Boca (Tebot Bach, 2007). An expanded edition of his first book will be published in 2012 by Tagus Press at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Another book, Dusting on Sunday, will be published sometime in 2012-2013 by Tebot Bach.
He lives and teaches in California's San Joaquin Valley.
